Pretty Girl

Peter likes going to the local music store near his work, it's right around the corner. He likes to spend some time there getting lost in the space time continuum, admiring all the shiny musical instruments. The drums, the keyboards, the wind instruments, the guitars, basses, the violins and cellos, even the dj gear. He plays around with the floor models, he may not even know how to play, but that's all the fun! The smell of play dough and wood polish fills the megastore and he loves walking in and the cashier welcoming him. The sign above the entrance says "come in and play" and that's exactly what he does. Peter goes in so often, all the employees basically know him and they always like to have small talk, Peter even knows which ones are new employees.. Peter was buying a new set of strings today, when he walked up to the register, there was a beautiful new girl there, a streak of green highlight in her black hair on the left side. He gave her the strings and she rang them up. He could smell her rather appealing fresh raspberry smell, "a perfume? A lotion?" He wondered in his head "she is so pretty" she had common brown eyes but they looked so wonderful on her. She smiled at him, she had green braces, her nose was a cute gumdrop shape, and she had on a sort of knitted sweater. "I wonder what her name is" he started to think. "Maybe I should ask her..." The girl made a cute remark as she told him the subtotal. She took his visa debit card and swiped it. She made a giggle that reminded him of better days, when he still felt at home.. She handed him the card with a little smirk, looking him straight in the eyes, Peter had a blank stare as he looked down from the ceiling, back at her. He grinned and took the card. "Thank you for your visit, we hope to see you again, have a good night!" The girl said to him, very enthusiastic about her new job. "I basically live here, I hate being home, and I hate being at work, everybody always sees me here" is what Peter thought, but instead of being a wise ass, he simply said "thanks, you too" and walked away. As he stepped outside, he reassured himself, "it's probably better I make no connection, whenever I feel any bit of hope, it gets shot down, besides, there's plenty of better guys out there, why would she want to waste her time with me?" He walked to his car, started it, put on his favorite album, and sped off onto the highway. He knew better..
